How Much Does a 4-Year English Bachelor’s Degree at Waseda Really Cost?
The honest answer is not the tuition figure alone. For a student starting in 2026, a realistic four-year plan spans roughly ¥10.6 million to ¥16.4 million, depending on the program and lifestyle.
The lower end uses TAISI, WISH followed by modest housing, and restrained daily spending. SILS plus a central private studio and more discretionary spending can pass ¥16 million.

School of International Liberal Studies
SILS is the highest-cost option in this comparison. Its four-year academic planning total is about ¥6.763 million before housing and daily life. Political Science and Economics and TAISI

Housing near Waseda: dorm, sharehouse or private studio
Waseda’s main campus sits in Shinjuku, but living directly beside it is not the only sensible choice. Nakano, Nishi-Waseda and neighborhoods on direct rail or metro lines can trade a short commute for a lower rent or a better room.

Monthly life in Tokyo beyond rent

Is Waseda worth the investment?

Waseda can be a strong fit when the English-taught curriculum, Tokyo network, program structure and post-graduation goals justify the cost. It is a weak fit when the family budget only works with an unconfirmed scholarship, maximum part-time hours or unrealistically low housing.
